Just one of those days!

So it's been one of those days....

Abigale woke up at 8:30 - which is a reasonable hour, but if you know me you know I like to sleep as loooong as possible and an extra hour would have made me very very happy. Oh well :) We got up and she enjoyed a cereal bar while watching the "Doodle Bops" They are a little odd - but overall very happy - and it makes Abigale happy - so I'm happy.

Haven't heard of the Doodle Bops? Check them out here.

We started the "Beasts" class in Little Gym today! Wow what an appropriate name! The class is from 19 months to 2 1/2 years. Right now the class is really small with only 5 or 6 kids and they are all 19-20 months. They are all SO INDEPENDENT! Abigale was all over the place, usually more content to do the warm up and hang with Mama at least a little, but NO, not today! :) She wanted to explore and test her limits. Rachel, one of the leaders, said to let her be and she'd come back - sure enough she did! :) I'm really hoping the class stays small - it was nice, they all had lots of attention and there was more than enough equipment without several children already on it. Everyone over at the Little Gym is just wonderful, it's been a great experience and I highly recomend it!

We got home and I hoped she'd take a quick nap before we went to the ped. dentist. Nope, didn't happen. I'll just leave it at that.

We went to the dentist and Abigale did really well. She let the dentist look at her teeth without even a fuss. But, as in the nature of my day, there is some bad news. :( I had noticed on a few of Abigale's teeth a little bit of yellow down on the bottom moving up almost half way. It's not on her front two on the top or bottom, but all the others to the right and left. I had hoped it was just a calcium deposit, or maybe even some plaque - just tell me it's my fault and I'll fix it. But nope, she has "defective enamel". Basically the top white coat of enamel just isn't there, it didn't form. We don't know if it's hereditary or maybe a bad side effect from antibiotics she's taken from basically birth. There isn't much we can do about it other than a flouride treatement to help keep them stong - and to brush and watch for cavitities. Poor kid, she just can't seem to catch a break! I'm praying that her adult teeth come in unaffected.

So that's what's going on around here. I haven't seen baby bird - but I haven't gone looking either. I have reason to believe the parents may have moved it over into our bushes - I'm really hoping that's the case. The parents have been hanging out in the front of our house a little more than normal - I only know it's them because they were making those go away noises...lol :)

There has also been a lot of negativity written about the contest lately. Complaints about the judging, the way we judge, who goes on, etc. Unfortunately no matter what we do, I think there will always be a complaint or hard feelings. There is no perfect way to run a contest and it always hurts not to go on. I don't like being accused of holding a popularity contest. Maybe that's because I don't consider myself popular - in fact I'm so far from it that I'm not even sure who the so called popular people are. When I judge I look at the challenge criteria and how the layout best fits it. Creativity and out of the box thinking are always a big plus - but that's no surprise, it's on the challenge info. The bottom line is you can't please everyone - that can be said for the contestants creating layouts or for the judging results or even the management of the contest. We're all just doing the best we can. :) The contest was meant to challenge you as a scrapper - push you to do your best - and if you won, well all the better for you! These are just my feelings - I'm really trying not to read the blogs or other forums and just stick to the Digiscrappin forums, but even so it's hard to ignore what I'm hearing. Good luck to those who have made it this far in the contest, remember to scrap for YOU and treasure your creations!!!

So my poor child who has fought a nap all day has finally given up, right here by my feet. Poor thing!

Until next time!
