Robbie got up later that morning and decided to figure out why the dog had been barking for hours. Sadly three baby birds had fallen out of their nest just outside of our fence to the side nearest to the street. At the time one of the birds had been run over and two were hanging out around our fence.
I guess Robbie didn't think to do anything about them, and he casually told me about them about an hour later. So of course I rush out to the aide of the little birds (I don't even like birds) and find another one splattered on the road.
I send Robbie in the house for a shoebox and we scoop up the bird. I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but I didn't want another splattered bird on my concious. We lock up the cats, put the shoebox high enough that Abigale can't reach it, and I called our local vet. I get in touch with someone from a rescue group who suggesting making a new nest out of a cool whip bowl and putting it in a safer spot. Baby bird goes in, parents feed, life is good.

Enter today at o'dark thirty - Jack is again barking. So guess what, baby bird is again out of the nest up next to the fence. I checked on it a couple of time today - but it was actually running up and down the fence line and a parent bird swooped at me. So I'm just hoping for the best. Since Robbie was at work, I didn't have much choice, I can't put Abigale that close to the road and I don't want to leave her unoccupied in the house for very long either.
Here he is...back against the fence...he looks very angry with me:

So I'm refusing to go outside. I don't like the thought of the bird being run over - so I'd rather not know if it happens. Robbie did look as he came in and the coast is clear so far.

That bird does look angry. I hope he/she learns to fly soon. That's a cute picture of Abigale and the bird.
